Carbon Accounting for Sustainability Measurement

SGES Academic Seminar. Talk by Matthew Agarwala at McMaster University.

Matthew Agarwala from the London School of Economics and the Centre for Social and Economic Research on the Global Environment (CSERGE) at the University of East Anglia will be giving a lecture on Monday, December 10th at 12:00 pm in GSB 330. All graduate students and faculty are invited to attend.

Matthew Agarwala is an environmental and resource economist at the London School of Economics and at the Centre for Social and Economic Research on the Global Environment (CSERGE) at the University of East Anglia. His research focuses on sustainable development, environmental accounting and valuation, and natural resource trade. Matthew is comfortable working across sectors and disciplines: co-authors include ecologists, conservation scientists, anthropologists, civil servants, members of UK Parliament, and Nobel Laureates in peace, medicine, physics, and chemistry. Matthew has contributed to numerous government reports (including for the Chancellor of the Exchequer), has over 20 academic publications (including in Nature, Nature Climate Change, and Conservation Biology), and Co-Edited the 2014 Handbook of Sustainable Development (Publisher: Edward Elgar). He maintains active research networks in Canada, Hong Kong, Germany, USA, and throughout the UK.

Can Science adapt to a rapidly changing world?

SGES Academic Seminar. Talk by Dr. Martin Manning at McMaster University.

Dr. Martin Manning will be awarded an Honorary Doctorate Degree by McMaster during the June 2016 convocation. Dr. Manning has been deeply involved in the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and has contributed to several IPCC reports, including the Fourth Assessment Report, which was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.

While in Hamilton, Dr. Manning will be giving a talk, jointly organized by the School of Geography and Earth Sciences and McMaster Climate Centre on Friday, June 17th at 3:30 PM in General Science Building, Room 330. Please see below a poster. You are welcome to join us for this talk.
